A Boston Cares program that engages youth and families in community service.
Launched in 2004, BOOYAH! (Boston Young Active Hands) creates positive social and personal change by empowering youth and families with opportunities to make a difference. In 2010, more than 1,500 people volunteered with the BOOYAH! program, at 25 non-profits and schools, completing over 4,100 hours of service.
- Youth-Friendly Calendar Projects: Projects suitable for family volunteering.
- Teen TeamWorks: a weeklong group volunteer program designed for high school students to participate in during winter and summer breaks.
- Large Scale Events: National Days of Service like Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and National Family Volunteer Day.
“I like Boston Cares because they have projects for younger children, and there’s something for everyone.”
-Alison Graham, Boston Cares Volunteer Since 2007
